PRACTICE THESE BEAUTY SECRETS:

• 12 MONTHS BEFORE:TEETH Everyone should go to the dentist at least twice a year for cleaning and check-ups. However not everyone can afford it. Start taking care of your teeth by brushing 3 times a day and flossing after every meal. If you cannot afford whitening toothpastes, get a box of baking soda and keep it in the bathroom to dip your toothbrush with paste in it. It works wonders in whitening the teeth.

• 6 MONTHS BEFORE: HAIR Focus on getting your hair healthy. If your hair is damaged, try not to wash it every day to avoid robbing it from its natural moisture. Wash and use a deep conditioner twice a week like NEXXUS. You can also use shampoos that have conditioner in it. There are some really good ones at your local drug stores. My favorite one, CREAM OF NATURE by REVLON – it’s AMAZING! Also reduce the frequent blow drying or hot ironing. Go the old fashion like our dear LATINA grilfriends, do ROLOS! (rollers). It’s much healthier for your hair than blow drying.

•3 MONTHS BEFORE: EYEBROWS If you don’t trim your eyebrows yet, it’s a great investment to go to a professional the first time, especially if you have the bushy type. You can get a taste for which method you prefer, tweezing or waxing. Make sure they don’t wax or pluck your eye brows too thin. You want to have hairs to adjust to your liking if you have to. After that, get a GOOD pair of tweezers with flat tip to continue doing it yourself. Tweezers are another great investment, you’ll spend less time struggling if you get the slightly more expensive ones and TIME IS MONEY!

• 1 MONTH BEFORE: SKIN For the next 4 weeks, scrub, loofa and moisture. Treat yourself to a weekly facial and skin renewal. Mix half cup of oatmeal in half a cup of water, paste it on your face and let it dry. Right before it dries completely rub it on to create a scrub effect. Rinse and apply your regular facial moisturizer. LOOFA is that dried, beige plant that our grandmothers used in the shower – YES they were right, it works! Use it to scrub your body from neck to toe with liquid soap. When you come out of the shower, don’t dry completely; apply the moisturizer all over the body while you are still damp.

• ONE WEEK TO GO? The countdown to your party begins and it can be pretty stressful, sometimes causing breakouts and pimples. If this happens to you here is how to deal with it, especially if you are warning a strapless dress. Use a body or facial wash with antibacterial content like salicylic acid or benzyl peroxide.  NEUTRAGENA has an excellent one. Let it sit on your skin for a few minutes and rinse. Schedule a manicure and pedicure for the day before your COMING OF AGE celebration so you’ll be perfectly groomed.

During my last visit to Epcot, I hosted a group of girls who were running around with the rest of the Disney Princesses celebrating their Coming of age in the most magical way imaginable.
